Cloudburst from Strymon

That's probably the reverb of my worst nightmares! I can't stand octave up or down reverb thing. It's like autotune to me, or like those cheesy organs that you used to see demoed in shopping centres all those years ago. Anything like that makes me nauseous.

I'll happily stick with my trusty Flint. And sorry if I come across as a party pooper!

Nope, just asking if anyone has checked it out, agreed those ensemble tones can be a little cheesy! I do like the smaller footprint though

I actually dig it, I like a lot of ambient type stuff, a lot of the “cheesy “type quality tends to get washed out in the mix IMO, but I get it it’s it’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. Would I ever buy one? Probably not. I would love to figure hour how to program something similar on a daisy seed or at least try.

I am admittedly a very big Strymon fan but I'm less than convinced by this one, at least for the money.

Maybe it will come down a lot in the used market but for me it feels like more in the ~200 ballpark would be a more attractive range. At the current price of $280 i feel like it occupies a weird spot....

Unless you just absolutely HAVE to have the cloud algo (and the new bits added) AND need the small form-factor....I would think that for most people they'd either be able to save some money and get by just fine on a cheaper verb...and if not that, would probably be better suited to pay a bit more and get more options for your money. You can still catch a Bigsky for $350 or so if you're lucky and so as above - unless you have to have the small form-factor - that extra ~$70 is a no-brainer for me.

As it stands though for around that $280 price point you could get (new or used, depending) any of a Flint, BlueSky, Mercury7, Neunaber Expanse/Immerse, MXR M300, Walrus R1, Eventide Blackhole, SA Ventris, RV-500, and for perhaps just a bit more something like an Eventide Space/H9, Bigsky, Specular Tempus, Empress, etc...

So I guess the short of it is that for me if I wanted to spend $280ish I'd probably go ahead and buy one of the aforementioned verbs instead and be able to do a bit more with it. And if I wanted a single-sized stomp with just a few sounds I would probably save some money and get one of those cheaper options. And if I had to have "Cloud" I'd pony up for a Bigsky (which, I already did :P )
