Cornerstone Nero Fuzz

Seems like a cool fuzz pedal with a Gladio SC used as clean/compression blend. 2 bias setting voices that are switchable.
This is more like a lower gain fuzz IMO. No mention if it’s germanium, silicon or hybrid.

As anything Cornerstone it is all SMD so definitely not germanium. Also germanium would be marketed to death. Barely sounds like a fuzz TBH. Funny how it's a full Gladio SC in there apparently.

I was expecting it to be silicon. I agree that it's more reacting like an overdrive, although in some demo's it sounds more as expected, this is the better one for me:

So the comp knob dials in a preset Gladio SC or something? That's an interesting idea.

Cornerstone replied to a question from an owner of the Nero fuzz:

The Nero is composed of two sections: a FUZZ section followed (in series) by an entire fixed-gain Gladio SC.
The Comp control is exactly the Clean control of the Gladio SC but wired in reverse:

  • when the comp is at minimum = Gladio SC Clean is at max
  • when the comp is at max = Gladio SC Clean is at minimum
The Clean (or “comp”) control is actually managing “how much” of the Fuzz sound is allowed to by-pass the Gladio SC.
  • Putting Comp at minimum means: All the Fuzz sound is both entering into the Gladio and bypassing it. So at the output jack you’re hearing (Fuzz + Gladio in series) in parallel with Fuzz only.
  • Putting Comp at maximum means: All the Fuzz sound is only allowed to enter the Gladio. So at the output jack you’re hearing only Fuzz + Gladio (in series).
