You can do the same thing with yellow carpenters glue... Paint your base color... Reduce some yellow glue with water.... Then apply a water based top color and it will create the same effect. I'm a coatings expert by trade... Sprayed about a gazillion gallons of the good stuff in my time.

So, water down some wood glue and mix it with the top coat? Does the type of paint matter (latex, spray, acrylic)?

1:1 water/glue or just a few drops of water? I'm going to test with either acrylic or spray paint
Try 1:1 and adjust from there… it has to be a waterbased coating on top of the glue for it to do it’s thing… so theoretically you could use a powder coated enclosure from tayda as a base color…. Scuff it with scotchbrite, a sanding sponge 400 grit or higher.. apply the reduced glue mixture… let dry to the touch then apply a waterbased color on top of that… as it dries it will crackle…After it’s all done topcoat with a clear acrylic to lock it all on if you want..

Not bad for first try, (i cant upload the other pics, too big maybe?)
Sorry I hijacked your post.... Your box turned out freakin' cool... I dig it when people have cool enclosures made up.... although nothings wrong with a bare enclosure and a sharpie either..lol
