Hey friends. Been toying with this circuit, as I really dig it, but have found an issue I’m a bit unfamiliar with. With or without the mods and tweaks I’ve done, there is a papery/crackly sort of decay, mostly noticeable at low gain. I really love the sound of the od/distortion but I feel like it’s being hard clipped by the op amp, and then suddenly cuts off instead of dissipating into a nice overdrivey sustain. I messed with lots of diode combinations and even no diodes at all, to no avail.
might there be something I’m missing that can smooth this out or get rid of that crackly decay? It’s not horribly noticeable and I still enjoy the sound, just always room for improvement! I don’t think the actual Secret Freq pedals I’ve heard had this sonic quality.
