Crazy Tube Circuits: Hi Power

A two-fer.
A Hiwatt based “Amp in a box” pedal with full amp controls and 2 amp version choices + built in Colorsound fuzz/boost pedal
Great for Pink Floyd live/Who tones
Wouldn’t even mind if the amp section was standalone (don’t we all have far too many drive pedals that would work with this!)

Also used as preamp into IR loader

Glad I did a search before posting this. I wouldn’t expect anyone to trace with all the and parts.

Is there a good Hi-Watt project on here? Maybe Nathan will resurrect Dr. Watson one day. I have a powerboat so I’m halfway there. A good HiWatt in a box would suffice though.

Honestly, I doubt that it can be all that huge, especially without the power driver. It is likely, a bunch of fets emulating a Hiwatt preamp, probably sharing the charge pump with the power driver circuit. Maybe they added a (arguably pointless) phase inverter circuit too. A lot of extra circuitry is involved in the switching in these types of pedals.

Any demos with the HiWatt side CRANKED!?

Seems all the demos are from Gilmour-wahnahbeez with the HW gain set low.

Nathan is still building pedals (Elementary and Detective) using the same circuit as Dr. Wattson, so probably not any time soon.

Don’t think I’ve heard any, and would be curious… although not sure how often I’d play it full drive, since to me, I think loud clean clean with maybe a bit of grit when you really dig in

Bumping this. Would be really great if just the HiWatt side of this could be made into a board— either for a 125B, or a vertically-oriented 1590BB.
