Dealing with 26 gauge wire on an old Boss DD-3?

Hello!

I'm repairing a boss DD-3 whose internal wires are breaking off - they're all 26 gauge and have old, poor quality solder joints, so it's kind of like a game of whack a mole, where I repair one, another starts fraying and going bad as I have the pcb in a position I can work on it, putting stress on the joints. It would be grand if I could replace them with 24 gauge wire, but basically all of the pads on the pcb are way too small for that and I am forced to stick with the 26 gauge stuff. Is there any smart way to deal with this, maybe get the 24 gauge stuff to stay, or should I just be more careful?

Thanks!
