Decoupling cap question

Hey guys, I’m building a VFE Dragon from Madbeans that I’ve had sitting around forever. VFE uses a 150uF decoupling cap on all of the switchboards. On the 3rd and latest iteration of the switchboard, the 150uF cap has been dropped down to 100uF. Now on the Dragon the switchboard has been eliminated. Everything is now on one PCB. The only difference I see between the Dragon board and the switching board is the relay which non latching. The 150uF is there. My question is, would it be safe to assume that I can drop this cap down to 100 uF as well? I’m not 100% clear on what exactly a decoupling cap does. I’m looking into it now. I’d like to use the 100uF for clearance reasons but I’m not sure if there’s some different mojo going on here as opposed to the older designed pedals with the switching board. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
