DigiTech FreqOut

Why not? It's funky, beloved, and I think out of production

Cort recently bought out DigiTech / DOD, and the FreqOut is one that they thankfully revived.

That being said, while I absolutely love the FreqOut, it's not possible to DIY, at least not with the FV-1 or Daisy (from my understanding, anyway. I'm not a coder).

I’d expect that something similar is possible with the Daisy.
Similar. Yes. But the freqout is the result of 4-5 revisions of the code.
The artifact is part of the sound, like auto tune.

That being said, if you 2ant a DigiTech sound and it's commercially available, it's worth supporting them. The pedal universe is better with Digi/DOD in it but it needs support. I think once they pass the reissue stuff, fun things are in store. Fingers crossed on a space station update.

Reissue? Fine.

But don't you dare "update" the Space Station. Remember what happened last time? :ROFLMAO:

I mean. Josh Scot liked it and made them worth their weight in gold for 6 months.
I don't think 6ou could properly reissue without an update. The shitty ADDA was part of the sound.
Is hope for a 3 in 1 XP that maybe had a bank of new settings. The XP-400...
And yes, I'm aware there a mod for a 3 in 1 but f*cking Josh Scott did a video on the space station a month ago...

Many years ago I started a design for an FV-1 based project that was inspired by the Space Station.

It never actually came to be though. The problem is without the reverse tape warp effects I have no interest, and the FV-1 isn't particularly good at that. Could be a future Daisy project though....

It had so many programs, but I remember mostly ring mods (easily doable) obnoxiously modulated pitch shifters (doable) and then some of those “synth” effects (maybe doable). What was the reverse tape thing that you liked?

Yep, I can pull off most everything except the reverse... I've never heard a convincing reverse algorithm for the FV-1 that didn't have weird issues.

I'll have to dig out the XP-300 to refresh my memory on exactly how it behaved but it was basically an all wet delay where pressing down the pedal would slow down the playback, then around the mid point playback would start speeding back up in reverse. Similar to a pot controlling a tape capstan motor speed where noon was full stop, CCW was reverse, CW was forward.

I have some working prototypes for the ring mods, bit crushers, sample hold, and even a not so terrible version of the synth patches.

The synth patches are basically gated shimmer reverbs with 4th and 5th harmonies instead of (or in addition to) octave.

That sounds challenging but possible. Sounds like a regular delay with the pedal moving the play head for half of the sweep and a reverse delay with the pedal moving the play head for the other half.

Most reverses have weird issues imo.
