Dumblifier - new pedal from DSM HUMBOLDT

I have their mark II simplifier and really like it. I think it’s the only pedal I’ve bought in the past 3 or 4 years.

Usually threads like this start with some discussion and then digress, which is fine (I'm often helping the *digression)...

Hoping this thread slides its way to some actual discourse about the pedal, and Alan W's comment was a good start in that direction.

Having heard, in person, Robben Ford play his Dumble during his sound check and subsequent concert, I can say a real Dumble sounds pretty good (or was it just Mr Ford making it sound good?), but a lot of amps sound good. From what I've read, the whole "Dumble thing" is more for the player, how the amp feels and responds to the player — something the audience will never experience (save any audience members who happen to have Dumble amps themselves).

So, for the player of this pedal, will it have the "FEEL" of a Dumble amp?

*Happy to have yet more digression.

I've only used the Quad Cortex model they recently added, but according to some Dumble players on Youtube videos (so take it with a grain of salt, of course) it's very, very close to the real thing. However, it's just... not really my thing? The touch sensitive and dynamic clean-edge of breakup-OD thing is really cool, but the distortion characteristic doesn't suit me. In a sense I can understand why it's as legendary as it is, because that kind of dynamic response is hard to find, but if you don't want that (and plenty of guitarists keep their volume at either 10 or 0), then I don't think it's anything that special.

Not to mention it remains to be seen whether this will really capture that aspect of it, or just the tone.

I don't know what a real Dumble sounds like, but IMO that's irrelevant. I like how THIS pedal sounds, I'd be curious to see under the hood.
