Super easy build. I think I finished populating, soldering, drilling and wiring in under two hours. After a couple of beers! I built one of these on vero board 10 years ago and loved it. Didn’t have any 125b cases so I put in a 1590b. I was bummed about this, as I’m trying to have all my pedals have top jacks.

I recently picked up some new wire after a forum member here recommended it. I love how flexible it is, but don’t like that it’s not prebonded. What I do like is using the stripped off insulation to stop the led from shorting. Much cleaner than using heat shrink tubing.

I had a metal can 2n222 laying around that I decided to use. I don’t think the gain of the transistors matters too much in this circuit, but it was about 30hfe lower than the non metal can version.

I love how interactive the controls are on this, considering it’s just input volume and output volume, you can get a very broad array of sounds.

No plans on painting or any decoration on this one. It’s lucky I gave it knobs!

If you're careful you can use a 1590B with top-mounted jacks. It's tight but I've done it heaps of times now. I too like top-mounted sockets. I'm surprised these days when manufacturers put jacks on the side. I've actually not bought pedals because of that!

What kind of paint is that? That looks awesome.
The pedal is hammertone, but sprayed too thick. A happy accident!

The stencil paint is model lacquer. I think this one is plum crazy pearl. The paint is discontinued so lots of hobby stores are blowing it out for a dollar or two.
