Super easy build. I think I finished populating, soldering, drilling and wiring in under two hours. After a couple of beers! I built one of these on vero board 10 years ago and loved it. Didn’t have any 125b cases so I put in a 1590b. I was bummed about this, as I’m trying to have all my pedals have top jacks.
I recently picked up some new wire after a forum member here recommended it. I love how flexible it is, but don’t like that it’s not prebonded. What I do like is using the stripped off insulation to stop the led from shorting. Much cleaner than using heat shrink tubing.
I had a metal can 2n222 laying around that I decided to use. I don’t think the gain of the transistors matters too much in this circuit, but it was about 30hfe lower than the non metal can version.
I love how interactive the controls are on this, considering it’s just input volume and output volume, you can get a very broad array of sounds.
No plans on painting or any decoration on this one. It’s lucky I gave it knobs!
