Extra LEDs in Chela overdrive?

Working on the Chela overdrive, and I was confused by the two additional red LEDs on the left side of the board in addition to the normal one on the bottom. The drill template doesn't have any space for them, and I'm not sure what they would indicate. Can someone explain to me the purpose of them? Thanks.

They are clipping diodes. They are part of the circuit, not the indicator light that goes on the outside of the box. They get mounted along with the rest of the board surface components.

They may or may not light up when you play. I built a Thermionic with multiple LEDs and only half of them lit up when strumming, although the circuit did work correctly.
