Based on @Coda's other polls, I'm curious about this one.

I don't listen to PF much these days, but was a fan during my formative years. One of the first albums I owned was The Wall, which I got during elementary school years (I recall my Mom wondering if the music was too mature for me--she was worried it would influence me to reject education).

By the time I finished college I was pretty familiar with their entire catalog, having either owned or borrowed them, with the exception of one album, that for whatever reason I never got to hear much so escaped my attention. I won't name the album yet, because I'm curious to see if it polls highly--I think it might.

This poll was on my list for tomorrow. Glad too see it. I will work on a detailed post. It’s a very difficult vote. I was never able to vote in the LZ thread, and picking my Floyd fav is almost impossible…

Obscured By Clouds.
I used to be a big Pink Floyd fan when I was younger, but obscured by clouds is the only Floyd album I actively listen to anymore. Wot’s… Uh the Deal and Childhood’s End are easily the best Floyd songs in my opinion (and who can resist that lap steel solo on W…UtD?), and both Free Four and Mudmen have guitar parts that interest me much more than the oft-praised Money, Have a Cigar, or Another Brick in the Wall solos.

I cannot pick in the Led Zeppelin thread and this one was just a little bit easier. For me it is Animals, it has some great grooves and lyrics and gilmours solos in dogs kill me.

I love atom heart mother and meddle they would be a close second and third. I feel like dark side and the wall or lower on my list because I have heard them so much.

Haven't owned them all and I only have DSOtM on vinyl so it's the only one I hear regularly. However, Animals always grabbed me. I was obsessed with Orwell, Atwood, etc... dystopic novels in general back in highschool so, yeah.

There's something about watching the Wall that reminds me of some of the less pleasant musical theater pit gigs. Like, my nightmares about the pit remind me of that movie and left me averse to it in general. Gives me anxiety.

I can’t pick. Every single album is a favorite. I love the awkward intensity of Pipers, and the dark psychedelia of SFOS. Umma Gumma is perhaps the progiest thing Floyd ever did (disc 2). I really love Atom Heart Mother (it’s in my top 3). The suite, and Fat Old Sun are great. I especially love Summer ‘68. Meddle is a classic. DSOTM is one of the greatest albums of all time. WYWH is a serious favorite, and was an incredible composition, as a whole. Animals is my all-time favorite Floyd album; it’s dark, anxious, and a little on edge. The Wall is perhaps the greatest concept album of all time…

The only album I didn’t mention was Obscured by Clouds. Im with @Bricksnbeatles . I never really gave it a listen until this passed January. I love it. It is pretty incredible. It’s a side of the band that seems very fresh to me. For that reason, I went with OBC. In the 20+ years I’ve been listening to Pink Floyd, I don’t think anything has excited me as much as Obscured by Clouds…except seeing Live at Pompei for the first time. The solo on Echoes is one of the best of all time…

The last time someone asked me which PF record was my favorite, I told them "'Dark Side' is the obvious choice, but I'm gonna say 'Wish You Were Here'." On further reflection, it's "Meddle" on the strength of "Echoes" alone. What an epic piece. The first time I heard "Echoes" was in a movie theater in 1974 when I saw "Live at Pompeii." All of Meddle is varied and wonderful. As others have said, they're all great records in their own way. I consider "The Final Cut" to be more of a Roger Waters record than a Pink Floyd record. The Wall has its moments, some great music, but the lyrical themes left a bad taste in my mouth. Save it for your therapist, Roger. I saw PF twice: Animals at the Anaheim Stadium and The Wall at the L.A. Sports Arena. We saw the first show at the Sports Arena and they managed to set some of the curtains on fire with the indoor fireworks display. At first, we thought that was part was scripted. Thank God the crowd didn't panic. Everyone was too stoned. Gilmour's "The Narrow Way" on "Umma Gumma" is one of my favorite PF tunes. All the more impressive that at 23, he was already at the top of his game.

The album I never got into is Animals. I never heard it until recently, and I can see why it's high on people's list. Another one I haven't considered much is Obscured by Clouds. I'll have to pay more attention to that one.

For my favorite I picked Meddle, because it straddles the early more ragged psych and the later pristine production that would come. Echoes sounds like a preview of DSotM.

Voted Meddle purely because of Echoes - my favorite pink floyd song of all time, and probably my favorite overall musical composition as well. I've been listening to floyd since I was like 8 or 9 and no other music has ever felt as life changing as theirs. At different times in my life Meddle might not have been my answer, but it's been my answer to this question for the past decade or so.

The only one I listen to at all any more is Wish You Were Here. And that's only occasionally. Animals is one which I am surprised so many like - it just sounds repetitive to me.

I do like Dave Gilmour's guitar playing and thought he was excellent when he played with Paul McCartney.

It was a toss up between Dark side and Meddle, Dark side being my first exposure to Pink Floyd and just an Iconic album but I have to go with Meddle for the sole reason that “One of these days” was my first lesson in “epic” Song writing. And has always stuck with me. It was definitely a defining moment in music for me.

If it's "Pink Floyd", it's a favorite. Everything they've done and do is simply fantastic. Truly difficult to select a "favorite" album of theirs.

I was introduced to Pink Floy by way of an excellent gel-tab and their album "Umma Gumma" back in the 70's. What a ride that was.

I’m a fan of all of them. Especially the o we after Sid left. I voted for momentary, cause I was being forced to pick one, and it has some old and some new. Neat song ever? All the parts of shine on you crazy diamond.
