Good source for 1/4" control knobs with set screws

Small Bear has a very good selection of knobs.

Some of Tayda's setscrew knobs do not have metal inserts and the knobs can strip out easily. The discount knobs on LMS and SBP are also that way. I had a quality problem with my last order from LMS, some of the setscrew holes were drilled so close to the edge of the knob that the hole was starting to break thru (see below).

I have purchased good knobs from all of those sources, but you have to study the pix on the site and sometimes ask questions before you buy. Also, inspect your stuff when you receive it, because at least one of the vendors listed above does not inspect the items before they ship.

This is a close-up of two 1611-style knobs, base-to-base. Good knob on the right. Not-so-good knob on the left.

I've tried the ones with no inserts, so far so good, but I wouldn't order anymore. I get mine from BLMS for the most part, and Stompboxparts.com
