Interesting finds on YouTube

I watched the whole thing. Never heard of the other guy but I could listen to Kurt Ballou talk about music stuff all day. Lots of cool nuggets of info sprinkled throughout the video.
Same. Kurt was working hard to make it decent content. Not sure who the other guys is nor am I sure how he tricked Kurt to visit his basement.
Kurt-*half way through an interesting story*
Host "do you like hard of soft tacos?"

Garza is the best. So many death metal heavyweights that might otherwise come across as maladjusted devil worshippers full of piss and jaegermeister have really opened up in that basement

Yeah, those theatrics should be left to the black metal side of things. Death metal has a major thing going for, one that people can respect even when not into the music itself, in that it is all about the music: No pretenses. No one stands out. Everyone is but a pair of hands, bandshirts and long hair going everywhere, chugging for 45min on stage with just a banner in the back to tell you who they are. Death metal speaks for itself.

I've seen a lot of meme and response short form content that could be described as "butthurt" to some extent, finally watched the full thing. Really impressive how in-depth he went with all the theories, I don't think the conclusion will be that surprising to DIY builders.

This the guy who "showed" that the only thing that affects guitar tone is pickup location with respect to the strings?
No idea if I'll watch it cause it's so long but it's definitely interesting. I upgraded form my old Scarlett to an SSL12 because I needed more inputs, more headroom and MIDI and it delivers that but I know it sounds essentially the same. Both havw the same low volume on the headphone output that drives me crazy.
But please no more "tone is in the hands" bullshit

Not sure why you put "showed" in quotes, did you watch the guitar video? It's also very detailed in what he tested and how it affected the tone.

Because he didn't show anything conclusive, as anybody with a guitar can confirm. Guitars all sound different and it's not just the relative position of pickups and strings.

I’ve been wondering if you had watched that as I’ve been reading your diode thread!

He’s definitely got boomer rage-baiting down to a science 🤣

As someone with some interest in mic preamps it was an interesting watch.
