KiCad Version 9 Released

KiCad version 9 has been released today.

Looks like a bunch of new features, Design Blocks look especially interesting.

Dig it. Been learning how to use this program recently: been pleasantly surprised at how intuitive it is to build.

I'll be digging in more tonight!

Still a pain to place components in schematics compared to diptrace :/ I want to like kicad SO badly

Once the addon API is extended to the schematic editor (timelined for version 10) I’m just gonna write a fucking component toolbar if its still not there

Nice! I didn't like the changes from kicad 7 to 8, but I think I'll keep using it for some more time before upgrading to 9 (at least until they fix the expected *.0.0 bugs).

Anyone have issues with libraries carrying over? Mine are no longer in there and they it doesnt seem to like it when I try an import them again.

I had to import mine manually (there was no carryover from KiCAD 8), but they worked fine after pointing to the files.

I have been able to get about half of it back now. Still having issues with some stuff. I never really organized my libraries like I should have but I didn’t fully get the Kicad organization system when I first changed from Eagle. I probably would have waited a little longer before transitioning though if i knew i was going to have to redo some stuff. Oh well, lesson lesson for when KiCad 10 releases.
