Let’s have a boring discussion… how about tuners!

Might have to get one of these for my acoustic board and move my strobostomp HD to my electric board, and retire the TU-3 that’s currently on it

I have a Strobostomp HD. My only complaint is that the display can be a little hard to view from an angle.

Probably not an issue if it's going on a pedalboard but mine is usually sitting on the bench (or desk) in front of me.

I've been using the One Control Mini Tuner with BJF Buffer, and the tuner built into my HX Effects set to Strobe mode.
If I were looking for another tuner, that Peterson Strobo Mini looks rad

I just stumbled upon this thing and it looks pretty awesome!

Anyone else have any recommendations for a top mounted jack option of buffered or true bypass tuner…
THIS: Half the price for the same functionality, comes with a nice storage thingy. It is SO much easier to tune with this, and the guitar sounds super perfect. (edited : but it's not blue.....

I love my clip on for home use, but when playing live or in a practice space with other people at volume they are awful.

Exactly. My bandmates are noodlin ass fools. Headstock tuner is a no go, I'd still have to tell them to shut the f up a hundred times.

When not around those fools, I use my ears. Oftentimes just searching for "A440" on my youtube app.

I'm sure those are the Lamborghinis of clip tuners though.

Saw fripp at a g3 tour as an opener I’d guess 99? Kenny Wayne shepherd was on it and awful. Not sure where I was going with this. I think the venue was river queen marina in pdf, in old town by the train station. Saw Santana there as well, but I think later. Anyways again not sure where I was going with this.

I have a couple snarks for home, Korg Pitchblack for my board. Was the only one around (at the time) that didn’t have trouble with a guitar tuned down to F 😂

eyeball fucked that peterson ... and the sonic research ... then common sense kicked in and I ended up with the polytune mini because the only thing I'm rocking is my bedroom these days.

I spent a bunch of money buying a Boss TU-2 from overseas because it was still cheaper than buying one at Australian retail.

Well, don't tell me how "indestructible" Boss pedals are, because within a year, the LED that indicates sharps stopped working. So an A and an A# (for instance) look the same. Which is pretty unhelpful.

So, after using clip-on tuners for a few years, I bought a Kokko compact tuner. I have tested it against the Boss and the tuning is exact. And it's true bypass. So, that's what I use and recommend.

Amazon Basics pedals are rebranded Kokkos for the most part, so you can trust those too.

In my typical fashion, I make things more complicated than they need to be. So I took my dedicated tuner off my board and I exclusively use the one built into my wireless receiver. So if I'm plugging straight into the amp without my pedalboard (almost never happens) then I just don't tune.
