Look what my buddy found in his attic.

I powered it up on a variac and the power bulb comes on and it has a tiny line in the display. Most likely the tube is toast, but I can't find a manual anywhere.

Hmm, looking at these it appears that it's not the 1950s models, and by 1975 they had gone to a square CRT.

And per this link, the Commercial Trades Institute of Chicago may have ended in 1970 (or at least they moved from this building then, but they seem to not be around today). https://collections.carli.illinois.edu/digital/collection/uic_pic/id/27807

So I might suggest looking for pics of the 1960s Heathkit models, to find that model #, then search for manuals for it.
There do seem to be several Heathkit fan clubs out there, they could help you, too.

Don't write it off yet. All this will have is a line with no input, if that. This scope will have no writing in the display, just the trace. The trace (line) needs a trigger. Adjusting the trigger input and Sync Amp(litude) should get a solid horizontal line. If you'll post a pic showing ALL of the various controls and inputs/outputs labels I can probably help you more.

Here is the actual front panel of the device.
