LP Studio - Arrived damaged.

I bought a LP Studio off Reverb and had it shipped to my office because I was out of town for a few weeks.

So I just get back and open it and see this.

Shipper says that it wasn't like that when it was shipped and they claim shipping damage. The box it came in wasn't damaged as far as I can tell. Plus it looks like someone has already attempted to repair the crack.

Shipper says that since it is past 7 days they don't provide refunds.

How screwed am I?

Once a seller was able to claim damage in shipping and refunded me in full. And I didn’t have to return the pedal (I still have it, broken, I’ll open it up at some point when I’m in my 60s). Not sure if they will be able to do that for a guitar but it may be worth asking.

Worst case glue glue in a syringe and some clamps. Glue boost to patch the finish, or take it to a good repair person.

Edit* on second look a new nut too. Looks like it fell nut first to the ground if I had to guess.

I get that he is saying it's past the point for refunds (sort of, given your situation I might make an exception, and, 7 days isn't very long), but can't he still be involved in helping make a claim with the shipping company?

I am assuming the photos on reverb didn't highlight that specific area? So you have to trust him about the fact that he says "it wasn't like that when it was shipped" ?

I would contact reverb customer support and file a claim with them. Send pics of the box etc

Also, who did they use to ship? Fed ex and UPS have 60 day windows. DHL is 30 days from the day they accepted the shipment, in the US. It's different overseas. The only document I can find referencing a 7 day window is from the Swedish version of the site, and which is likely due to local regulation and wouldn't apply in the US (assuming that's where you are). It also only references hidden damage, while the US docs on the DHL site that talk about damage don't have a specific category for hidden damage, which could very well be a result of consumer protection laws in the US.

Either way, reverb should be able to help you out. If the seller didn't check the shipping insurance box they're about to have a bad time
