I built this for a friend, having no experience with EF's and not really knowing how they are supposed to sound, and it sounded amazing. It was dirty with alot of sweep. I liked it so much i built a second for myself, but the 2nd didn't seem to have the dirt the 1st did. After several weeks, the 1st one malfunctioned and basically had no output.
I opened it up and lo and behold I somehow managed to put one of the optocouplers in backwards. I suspect, the dirt or gain was because there was only one functioning optocoupler which then burnt out from being overloaded.
Looking for input on this. I would love to recreate the 1st attempt but I suspect a single optocoupler will keep burning out. Anyone have any experience with this?
