Well
@Chuck D. Bones, that's inevitable, the repetition, when a thread gets this long.
Some day, a Newb pedal-builder will join the forum and in one of the gen-pop threads an old solder-hand will type a simple number, say
#7.
And everybody will have a good guffaw, there will be much banter in the subsequent posts. The Newb will wonder and shrug it off.
Later, yet another experienced forum member will type, in a trouble-shooting thread perhaps,
#1984. A lot of chuckling and memes of "
Call the Doctor and the Medics" as well as some stink-eye from some guy... The Newb, brimming with curiosity will ask "
What's up with the numbers?"
A
Longstanding
Member will inevitably instruct the Newb, explain and then demonstrate by popping
#753 into a wishlist thread— thereafter much hilarity will ensue in the immediate-following posts in that thread — the Newb will be encouraged to try one him/herself.
In the What's In Your Mailbox thread or similar, the Newb will type
#2524 and when nobody so much as raises an eyebrow and the Mail-posts keep goin'... the Newb will ask what he did wrong. The
LM will tell 'm "
Well everybody's heard that one before, try another one."
Newb: "
#2557"
Nothing. Crickets. No one laughs, no one posts silly memes about the joke just told...
Newb: "
What'd I do wrong this time?"
LM: "
Well, some people just can't tell a joke."
