You choose….wisely. To be honest I like my hydra better than the later version Sagan even although the sagan has features that the hydra doesn’t. I really wanted to be able to control the repeats and time of each individual head. The VFE Mobius cured that itch.

I am quite good with fuzz boxes and distortions now, but i doubt i ever do any digital pedal. I am scared it does not work and i have to open up a Box of Shame. My first failure was a 7 way equalizer with sliders when i was 17. Maybe burned a IC or something and i trashed the thing after some years.
Modulation pedals are life! If what you are considering “digital” are things like BBD, PT2399, belton, cmos circuits, don’t be scared, they’re just chips with more legs (sometimes). Now FV-1, I have not attempted hand soldering one of those myself, but if you get it pre-soldered, the rest of the build is actually as easy as any moderately complex dirt box, IMO. You got this

For me it was the ROG Thor. The only board I never got working. This was done on vero, following the tagboardeffects layout. It always had a high pitched squeal. It prompted me to make an audio probe, which told me where the squeal came from, but I still didn't know how to fix it. I trashed the board but used the jfets for other stuff.
Now PedalPCB offers the Thor, but I kind of lost interest in it. Anyone build it yet? I don't recall seeing any build reports.

Recent whales include Madbean Aquababy and the PedalPCB Low Tide. In both cases I attempted to clean the flux using internet advice to employ isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush.. Something must’ve gotten fluxed up, because both were DOA upon completion.
No amount of troubleshooting, chip swapping, or voltage measuring worked. In the end, I scavenged everything but resistors (measuring all components to ensure they were still within spec) and rebuilt on entirely new boards. Both worked the second time, so idk.

I didn’t clean and box these on the same day either. This could be one of those situations where correlation does not equal causation; I’m finding that if I don’t finish populating a board in one sitting (or over the course of a short period of time), I’m more likely to make mistakes. With complicated builds, that’s a no-go!

Same. In 15 years, the TWO times I tried to clean a board the builds were ruined! Like I said above, I don’t know whether it was a coincidence or not, but I’m not risking it again.

Just build a half dozen or so KoTs and then cherry pick the two best and box 'em together and sell the rest.

Is QC with that particular purveyor a "known issue", he asked indiscreetly? Should I be frightened?
I ask because I was just masturbating furiously at a few circuits over there on that specific site just two days back, but have not pulled the trigger on any purchases yet.
Specifically the EVH 5150 clone which somehow impossibly has not been made into a pedalpcb offering yet...unless I drove past it altogether by accident.
It has been a much discussed issue. It’s really a crap shoot. Some boards do work, but there are a large number that don’t, or need massive work around for things that should have been in the circuit to begin with. Inconsistencies in documentation, a smidge of out right plagiarism from other purveyors of PCBs, and poor QC. Proceed with caution or put your d*ck back in your pants and head over to the wishlist here.

Regarding that 5150:
I've been asking questions on this forum for so long now that I go to make sure no one has asked the same question first only to find out that I already asked the question and then forgot about it. I'm like the squirrel that forgets where he buried his nuts.
That PCB has so many components on it that I actually start to get a little nauseous looking at it. @Robert 's children will probably have to continue doing the traces after he dies, regardless of his having lived well past the ripe age of 1,000 years old.
