NGD!!!! Epiphone Casino

Wow. That is gorgeous!

I got a '59 RI 335 a year or so back - bought it online used just before all the prices started to go crazy so it was a crazy deal by today's standards. It's a VOS in vintage Sunburst and it's the best 335 I've owned - and I've owned a few! This one is the keeper. The odd thing about the '59 style is that the bridge pickup is completely enclosed with just a little round hole to poke the wire through, so it sounds a bit more solid body than the regular 335s as Fingolfen has. His has (I reckon) a big space in the centre block that you could access the pickup through. That leads the guitar to have a slightly woodier, more hollowbody sound to it which I really like. In general I think I prefer the tone of 335s like Fingolfen's but my '59 style is still my favourite. :)
Next time I'm back visiting my family I'm planning on spending some time at the Gibson garage and just trying out stuff...

Now that sounds like fun. So many people bag Gibson and lament how their standards have slipped. I maintain that they haven't - they've never been very high :-) But man they can make a great guitar. And invented some of the best. I seem to spend most of my time swapping between a Gretsch Duo Jet, the 335 and the USA Casino. If money was no object I would like to pick up a 335 like yours because they do sound good. Kinda difficult to justify given what I already have...

I can't stress enough how much everyone should drop whatever it is they are doing at the moment and go get a baritone. Go. Go now. Hurry.
I tried a conversion neck on a Strat and I loved it for ab a month and then sold the neck to fund another purchase. Probably didn’t help that it was my nostalgia guitar. Getting the itch for another go with the baritone. Would love a Reverend Descent, but can’t justify the $$. That or just go all out on a bass VI.

Found a real steal on those….

Not sure who'd be getting robbed on that one

Can't go wrong with any of that. Been obsessed with my Bari since around 2007 and currently can't/won't shut up about my squier VI.

The converted strat thing is cool, I played one on a Mexican fender body/pickups. My buddy did a nice job setting it up but I think the p90s in mind sound much better. I'm not much of a strat in-between settings guy, though. That's my bias to overcome.

I’ve been thinking about the Descent for years now, but I also can’t really afford any new gear at the moment.
