Another non-pedal…

For this one I made my own router template. I used a high-res image, and pasted it into an Apple pages document. I was able to cross reference fret distances and screw spacing on the bridge to make sure I was scaling the picture to the correct size. By using metric measurements, and creating shapes that were the same size as the dimensions on the original guitar, I was able to get it down to a fraction of a mm.



I exported the file as a pdf, printed it on multiple sheets, cut and paste, and reconfirmed all the measurements of the bridge and frets.

I sourced some birds eye maple and roasted alder. Fretboard from stew Mac. Unlike the original novo, I kept the fender scale length.

The pickguard material was left over champagne gold acrylic from my Meteora build last year, and scrap aluminum sheet. I used the same method to make router templates and hand shaped the edges.

Bridge came from a Reverb seller. German carve was executed with a cabinet building router bit.

That’s my dog too.



When I was routing the headstock, I made a stupid move and tore out a piece from the end. That forced me to carve the edges. Getting those carves smooth and well worked became an obsession that I worked on over the course of the build.

Gold tone jescar frets.




I polished the hell out of the aluminum panel to get it from matte to a near-mirror finish.

After using a zero fret on my Meteora build, I’ll never go back. I cut a brass shim to fit behind it.



Original plan was antique Pelham blue, but I ran into “motting” problems that left it blotchy.

So I sanded and out down black primer.



Then Testors metallic purple paint, which is supposed to be nitrocellulose.

Pickup is an Arcane triple clone. The clean sounds are just OK, but with any kind of dirt or fuzz, it sounds awesome. Really impressed.



There’s a partial coil cut, sending 1.2k to ground.

My clear coat also cracked, probably because I used pre-catalyzed laquer. But what the hell, people pay extra for that.

Recreation bumble bee capacitor.

The volume pot is heat-shrunk because I was worried about the tolerance to the shielding and didn’t want any shorts.
