Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

Kronos is like the Hendrix of modern chamber music. All the "cool nerds" in music school owned their Black Angels recording back in the day. If the Neil Young transcription doesn't grab you, stick around at least for the second piece by Lizée with the whirly tubes. I'm way into that kind of thing. My own senior recital included the Joey Sellers 'Wars' trombone quartet that utilized stomping, banging mutes on the music stand, pouring water in the slide (yes it was a tuneable bong but it made helicopter sounds) and half slide where you take your slide off and only reconnect the mouthpiece side bypassing the bell. I wish I still had a recording of it.

New At the Gates album is pretty damn good. Just listened all the way through. Vinyl/shirt/cd bundle is only $48 on their website. Shipping was $28 tho 😂. I saw At the Gates last time they were in Chicago. I was mega excited to finally see them live so I ate too many edibles beforehand. During the show I was acutely aware of how much the crowd was shifting while my feet never moved an inch. At one point I am certain Tomas noticed this from his vantage point on stage. We locked eyes, I was fine after that. RIP Tomas Lindberg. He was my favorite vocalist. I’ve lost more hearing to his music than any other.

Unfortunately this crap cause I have to rehearse it tomorrow.

No idea why I accepted to form a duo with a female singer...

Ah

Ah, That name. Good memories. Blinded by Fear. First time entering the pit as a thin 16 y/o dumbass during some intermission dj stuff, and took an elbow to the temple. Woke up on the side. The main acts were Vader and Dying Fetus and that sort of stuff. I stood no chance with that crowd.

Favorite recent track. There's COF-y epicness woven throughout the barrage. It's relatively accesibly because of it, which is why I picked this track. It's not something they did before, and it works remarkably well. And of course makes this track stand out among the rest.

She also dated Brad Pitt as a minor, didn't she. All kinds of effed up.

Btw the rehearsal went well. I was playing my Coronet into a Marshall and enjoyed cranking it. Wow the tube gain was insane. But the most amazing thing was how quiet the P90 hum was despite a cranked amp in an old Cracow basement with Austro-Hungarian wiring or something haha
