Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

Randy Holden- Population II. One of my favorite records ever. Randy played in blue cheer for a hot second. With his solo act, he played with something like 16 Sunn full stacks

Just like peccary above, I had never heard of Holden before. This album rocks!
Any other obscure picks in the old school doom genre?

Drove into the gutter tonight "Live Rust" Neil Young and Crazy horse
I just discovered the "Way Down In the Rust Bucket" album, and been listening to it a lot.

Today, I was listening to the deluxe version of Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak (has extra BBC tracks).

Just discovered that my favorite Meat Puppets album (Forbidden Places) is now on Spotify, so I've been spinning that all day...
I like several of their records but don't know this one. I'll have to give it a shot.

So much great taste exhibited throughout this entire thread!

I only found out about it because I remember finding a music video from the album. Years later I found a NOS cassette tape of it at a record store (Jan 2020), and have been a huge fan of it ever since. Lots of different styles in that era of Meat Puppets…

Was saddened by the recent passing of Gift of Gab from Blackalicious, so I've been going through their material, and I had forgotten how good this comp is. It's hip hop, but there's also great riffs amidst it all, both played and sampled.
A great summer listen.

Wow I hadn't heard about this. I loved Blackalicious. Thanks for posting this @SYLV9ST9R

I can't claim to be a big hip hop head or anything, but when I was in college and first learning to play bass, a friend of mine (who was at Berklee studying bass at the time, so I trusted him for good bass advice) gave me a copy of a Roots album that was entirely instrumental and told me EQ the bass out as best I could and to practice/play over that. I spent hours and hours doing that through most of my undergrad. Ever since then I've always considered The Roots to be somewhat of an influence even though I can't say that I listened to much more than that instrumental album.

I saw this album on pre-sale a few months ago one night after a few too many rye Manhattans and it showed up yesterday. They've got to be one of the tightest bands on the planet.
