Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

My bass playing friend took me to a Victor Wooten show, and I was bored.
In return I took him to a Guided By Voices show and he was bored.
Finally we went to "Mac Sabbath", the fast-food based Black Sabbath tribute band, where we found common ground to love.

To be fair to your friend, I’ve seen GBV a lot over the years. Half the time they were amazing and half the time I was bored out of my mind. Maybe it was the lineup idk. I will say, when they’re on it is a great show.

You have a good point. I've seen them 3 times: twice in great venues with great lineups, and once in a bad venue where the lineup wasn't on fire, and the time he came happened to be the latter.

I also loaned this friend a copy of Bee Thousand and he did not dig it. If you can't get into Bee Thousand, pretty sure GBV is not for you no matter when you see them, so there's that too.

Play him Teenage FBI, if that doesn't get him interested then he might not be human.

Sitting in a hotel room Listening to Roberta Flack on my daughters new portable record player we got her for her birthday

I never gave the Bangles much thought. I have vague, distant memories of walk like an Egyptian and manic Monday existing as songs when I was a kid but that was it- a pop band I was too young to have any context for.

Well yesterday, I happened to stumble on a couple songs of theirs that are from before they got signed to a major label contract and decided to check out some more and I'm digging this for sure. Bonus points cuz my wife excitedly said "hey are you listening to THE BANGLES?" Once I digest this collection album, I'll check out the other stuff

Bring it back to my roots this afternoon.

And some punk rock guitar solo action:

I found out about this guy earlier this year. Pedro Martins. Guitarist from Brazil that is sort of Bossa Nova in style.
I actually was hoping to pick up one of these old Teisco guitars since I have been buying stuff of the Yahoo Japan auctions and have a few things already in the warehouse waiting to be shipped. But no luck...
