Poison Apple - darken tone?

Just finished building poison apple. The high freq end of the sweep is generally too brittle for my taste, even with bias maxed. Can bias circuit be modded to make less bright? Or perhaps a cap on a SPST, but I have no idea if actually feasible, or where to insert in circuit.

The metal pins push out of the plastic with a little press from the skinny side. Use the flat side of a small screwdriver or something and rest the plastic strip on something with a little gap for the pin to pop out. It's handy for when you want the spacing but don't want a pin there in the middle.

I don't think they're a good long term solution though. Good for testing things, but over a not very long time they can cause intermittent connection issues.

Or just get some male to female Dupont cables and wedge them in there. Stick the component under test in the female ends.
A little dodgey but easy enough for a single component.
Or use male male and a breadboard. Easier to flip between components quickly that way

So I can buy long ones and cut them down?
I prefer to just push them out with a nut and needle-nose pliers.

The nut from a mini SPDP switch is the perfect size. No damage to the plastic and if you're careful, no damage to the pins.

Save the pins, they're useful. More on that here.

Also, I use an utility knife to cut whatever number of SIP-sockets I need off the 40. Cleaner and no loss of pins. Other people use their fingers, or side-cutters, but a xacto/utility/box-cutter is my preferred method.

Here's another thought on your overly-bright Rotten Apple, add Orman's version of Hammer's Stupidly Wonderful Tone Control — you could tack that on between the PCB and the bypass, with an internal trimmer or make the control external and label it "PRESENCE" or whatever.
