I think just about every bird is mating on this one branch outside my house currently, I've seen at least wattlebirds, kookaburra and bronzewing. I assume the branch charges by the hour.
The bronzewing even tried to land about 30cm away from the kookaburras while they were going at it, maybe their booking went over. 😅

I was just walking down a local street this arvo and a kookaburra was sitting on a front fence. Couldn't be bothered moving as I went by - I must have been less than a metre from him, looking eye to eye! They're not actually native to the west but there are plenty of them around here. We only have the laughing kooky, not the blue wings. But even the laughing kookaburra has a bit of blue on the wings.

Is that brick ruin a Civil War relic?
it is... was a 5 story textile manufacturer that was burned down by General Shermans Union troops in 1864... It was powered by a mill race attached to the creek. There is a ton of civil war history around here... Several big battlefields. I may or may not be certified to man a civil war cannon brigade.Lol. One of my best buds from high school owns a few cannons and he competes nationally with a team. I went through the safety training years ago to be able to step in if they had a man short. It takes minimum 5 people on a team to shoot competitive in formation. One of his cannons was a real deal commissioned confederate cannon. Talk about fun to put some rounds down range....lol He lives in Bama but comes to a place about 30 miles from me in Georgia to practice at another guys Range/Farm... You gotta have a pretty big piece of property to shoot a real cannon.

I wanna know if they rent out the tramping hut by the hour.
Some of the bigger more popular, often a bit more fancy tramping huts (not this old classic one ) have an online booking system to prevent overcrowding and people missing out on bunks. But I don't think that's what you really meant...
