Re-Boxing, the honeymoon is over...

Still pretty much a noob, learning everything the hard way. I really really got into loving HUGE Boxes for my pedals. Tons of 1590bb and even a 1590XX (benson) for boards that would easily fit in a 125b. I had a monster board. Recently though, I have realized I don't need 5 drives that are all doing pretty much the exact same thing and I built a new (smaller) board. I have a couple pedals currently housed in 1590bb's and I am 90% sure I need to rebox them into 125bs.

Anyone else have these 1st world dilemas causing them to stay up late at night?

Also, I really like the new Silver Sparkles from Tayda, great looking boxes.

Going great lengths for seemingly arbitrary reasons?
Nah- we don't really do that around here.. 🙃

So, which of your five drives are you keeping on?
The mojito and the Parentheses (Rat on steroids). These two get me everything I need for daily use. I have a pile of fuzzes and other drives that are useful to plug In Every now and then. But yeah.

Cool- I like to know where others stand in their own personal quest for the perfect drive..

*not that anybody asked, but I'm trying to slim down my drive section as well, and I think I might be able to get by with just the Tommy II, the Acid Rain, and a boost.
I'm working on building a Blue Cal by Effects Layouts, which is two independent Timmy circuits using the two sides of a dual Op-Amp. I'm hoping It may be able to take the place of the Tommy and the boost.

..The quest rolls on!

My mind tells me to do a Betty but my heart keeps me a Dawson.

I’m conflicted on selling pedals I built during my newbie learning curve.. the mediocre ones I churn out now I could live with my name attached to them.

It’s really just two pedals I am thinking if reboxing. Both have pt2399 chips and those are so variable I don’t want to risk building new. I’d rather just get them in 125s and make room for one more pedal on the board.

I like dual ODs, or OD+boost, either in a 1590BB. My fave right now is a Freddie (my own design/mod) with a Broadcast as boost. It works with all my guitars which is difficult for most ODs. Another fave is a Freddie with a Jimbo (a modded Timmy). I like these pedals because it's two pedals I like but more compact and only uses one power connection.

The OD is the pedal I build the most of. It's the "voice" of my guitar sound - well, after the guitar and amp it's the most important to me anyway. It's the effect I can mod meaningfully myself - I can't do that with delay, reverb, whatever. And I like small as long as I can have top-mounted jacks. So the mini-pedals have lost their appeal for me.

But similarly, probably the only reason I've never owned an original Memory Man is because they're huge! I could fit my entire pedalboard onto one.
