You can always use one of these. I use one when I match JFETS, and it works well. Its still a little squirrely to get it to fit in just perfectly, but it holds it in place to be able to get a measurement.

I haven't found anything like that for cheaper than like 30€, which seems like quite a lot for just matching JFET's... but then, it's just a one time charge I guess.
