Short Question about Box and all EQ

Hi,

I just finished a Box and all EQ kit and I wonder if the circuit is able to run with 18V, just like the EQD original ? There are no notes about the power supply in the manual. I'd rather ask you guys before I fry my new pedal. Thanks.

Oh, I understand. I think my kit contained caps and electrolytics which are in spec for 18V. I'll take another look at the caps before I'll try it.
Great, thank you Music6000 ☺️👍

Hi,

I would have another question about the Box and all, if that's okay ?
I've read that the TL 072 op amps are changeable to better op amps. I like the sound, but I have a lot of noise with high gain settings. I read about the OPA2132 or NE5532, but I'm not quite sure which one is the best to replace the TL072.
Which op amps can you recommend for less noise and bit more of EQ ?

I think jfet op amps are usually quieter than ones with bipolar transistors or cmos ones.

A NE5532 is quieter than a TL072 if the the circuit has a low input impedance, for example if you used one in a tube screamer I think it would be quieter because there's a buffer in front of the op amp. With a high input impedance the TL072 outperforms the NE5532 at least as far as noise goes, like in the the Box and All since the first op amp is the input buffer. You could try the OPA2132 which is pretty expensive if I remember right, or try the cheaper route with an LF353.

I’ve never claimed to have golden ears but I did do a side by side once with a deep blue delay using an opa275c the 2132 and a tl072. While I could I think heat a difference I half couldn’t decide if I was just mentally telling myself it was there. I certainly didn’t think it was worth any extra spending.

Hi,

Thank you both for your answers. I tried the box with the effect loop of my amp and it's amazing good. I had a lot of hiss with it in front of my amp, but it's very quiet in the effect loop now, I'm really happy 👍

Would the OPA2132 make it extensively better ? I could get 2 of them for 10 bucks.
