Quite empty and untidy atm. I’m gonna share few thoughts about pedals there.
True bypass 5-loop switcher - helps isolating buffers that affect my tone (read as square waves) and helps quick choose between effects. Would like to try fitting pickup simulator atleast just before output.
Sub’n’Up - haven’t been using octave, but toneprints are good for modulated weirdness.
HPF/boost - I need to build new one which has adjustable hi and lo pass.
Megalith - after playing with this first time search has ended as I found my fuzz for so far.
IC Muff - need to build a new one for a real enclosure. Some component choice tweaks are needed too.
Drone Master - I was quite happy with it, but still kept about dreaming about a nastier rat, UNTIL today. As today was the day when NOS RCA CA3130E IC went to into it and WOAH,,WHAT is THIS??? ARE THERE REALLY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ICs??? How nice and untamed it became. Needed to dial down gain, vol and tone as it just kills now. I love it now, rat race is over. Circuit wise scoop mode is unnecessary for me.
FilterFX - more random LFO options are my go to with this one.
Morgul Boost - shitloads of gain. It works as a distortion on its own. Just rehoused this and earlier idle whining/oscillation problem eased, but isn’t completely gone. Im gonna try CA3130E on this too, maybe that’s the magik mojo thing?
Malekko Ekko Dark - I like it, but been searching tap tempo mod for it. Molten Voltage made one, but only Small Bear has some of MV chips, but the right one is out of stock. Apparently stompLFO isn’t fit for a job with BBD clocks and I’m not deep enough on sorcery yet to figure other solutions than adding exp pedal connection parallel to TIME pot. Maybe I should start a topic about it and make a call for real wizard to appear with more powerful magiks.
Future add-ons
Reverb for sure, still haven’t decided between FV-1, belton brick or some more powerful digital chip. Also I have components and medium decay tank for a real spring unit, but I’ve understood noise can be problem with spring box solutions.
Wah is also missing as I don’t like what Morley BH2 does to my tone when it’s on signal route. Been looking into tweaking its buffering circuit, but haven’t made any solid plans yet. Maybe ditching circuit board and using the housing for a completely different wah would be good. Any suggestions?
Latest iteration. I picked up an Oscillator Devices Hydra4X to expand my available loops. It also adds order switching and two programmable gain stages.
I have both sides of my duo-phase in their own loops. I can swap them, run them in parallel, put FX between them...
Not shown is my expression pedal, which is off-board.
The fuzz pedal now runs on battery, but the rest runs on an isolated supply. At some point I may get around to finishing the thing. Will be ordering an enclosure and finishing off the multi-fuzz. Also tempted to get some tubes in to the chain but.. will have to wait for now.
Recently helped a friend out for an event and needed a quick n dirty ampless setup that could fit in a carry-on bag. I almost never use this SY-200 but the event called for a couple synth/organ sounds so it went on the board. Also needed to do some quick switching between synth and distorted guitar, so I got to use my PedalPCB dual loop switcher dealie. The other DIY pedals are a MBP skoolie delay (used for slap back and makeshift chorus), PPCB morning glory mostly for boost, and PPCB informant. Overall a really nice and flexible array of sounds and everything worked shockingly well given the high levels of jankitude and lastminuteness.
Powered by a USB battery bank via CIOKS 4 expander thingy, which worked great but is a little finicky for my setup. It doesn’t support power delivery and CIOKS specifically says to use a USB-A-to-USB-C cable. Coupled with the fact that the UA dream is very power hungry, I had to find a power bank that supports 5v @3A. I never fully depleted the battery bank but it lasted at least 90 minutes with no issues!
The board itself is just a piece of scrap plywood with some rubber feet screwed to the bottom. Very professional.
Oh man, I have one of the boards, too. I put some legs on the back, that were a little taller and some rubber feet on all 4 corners. Then I covered it in industrial Velcro. That was a just a weekend project for fun. Since they come in a set, I made one for my buddy, too.
