Straplocks

I switch between an electric upright and various strapped instruments that i generally sling behind my back so quality strap locks are pretty important to me. I was fine with the Dunlops I've used for years but felt they were bulky so when I got my bass vi last year I gave these planet waves a try.
After a few months, one of the release buttons snapped off. Assuming it was a fluke I ordered another set. I've now broken 3 out of 4. Don't buy these, y'all. They didn't stand up to the rigors of my living room so I wouldn't do it on stage.

The good news is that Dunlop now makes these flush mounted ones and I'm very happy with the result. Not drilling my vintage instruments for it but I'm down for my squier!

I've used Schaller strap locks on every bass I've owned for the past 25 years and never had any issues with them. No mods to the bass needed, though if you have a leather strap you may need to cut out a small amount of leather to get them to fit through your strap.

I just use These View attachment 39726

I also use Couch guitar straps religiously, and the ends on those have never stretched or warped on me
That's actually a maroon couch strap in the picture.

I have those on my oldest instruments, I consider them equal to the older Dunlops. Just as secure but both protrude in different ways. These flush mounts barely stick out any farther than a factory button.

Yeah, them sticking out isn't bothersome for me, it's more the whipping myself in the face with them once in a while 😂

Drilling out a bass to fit strap locks seems a little too permanent for something like that imo.

I never liked how the Dunlop's protruded, I use the Grolsch beer bottle Washers mostly. Never had one come off, but I'm pretty laid back

There's a problem with the link you provided.

EACH & EVERY strap-lock rubber washer I've ever ordered came with free beer. Grolsch, Fischer Alsace, Keiler etc.

I like the Keiler strap-locks, they come in a dark blurple colour, so they don't stick out (visually) as much as the rosy tint of the Grolsch.

I know they won't work for Mentaltossflycoon's needs, but ... c'mon, free beer!

Other people have no problems with Schaller, but they didn't work for me at all for even a few minutes trying them out in store or on a friends instrument.

Every Schaller I've tried could be shook loose/came undone — for me they cannot be trusted.

I could have bought the beer, but I foolishly bought a 50 pack of beer washers on eBay, they sell them for home brewers that use this style of bottle. All that wasted beer..... ;-)

I used to brew my own beer.
My friend's uncle passed away and I got all his Grolsch and Fischer Alsace bottles. I had to give up my bottle collection when I moved overseas, though. 😿

Big fan of the Schallers here as well. The only issue I've ever run into is the nut coming loose on the strap side but most of the ones I've been buying lately have two nuts to avoid the problem. Every time I clip in I just check the nut. It's kind of a knee jerk automatic behavior now.
