Hi I am a new builder, put together the sunflower fuzz, I am getting a light but no audio. Is it possible that my choice of transistors are causing the problem? I am using 2n229 germanium transistors instead of the hard to find nkt275. I do get audio to pass through in bypass, just not when the pedal is on. I don't see any obvious shorts. Thanks for any advice.

The 2n229 are NPN transistors while the NKT275 are PNP, this circuit was designed for PNP transistors. Did you orient the transistors correctly? I am not sure if some other components would have to be changed to make it work properly for NPN transistors.
