Switch temporarily mutes the guitar signal! (Unintentional kill switch!)

Hello all — I built an Aion Azimuth kit a year or two ago. It is a Zendrive clone. The kit incorporates some pre-wired connectors as you will see in the images below.

Everything on the pedal works fine, except that the switch temporarily mutes the signal whenever it is in a sort of in-between position between on and off (or off and on — both directions). The signal cuts out before the *click* of the 3PDT. The LED also goes out in this in-between position when switching the pedal off. I can replicate this 100% of the time.

I don't remember if this was happening when I initially built the pedal. It was one of those projects that I completed and didn't really use for quite awhile.

Any ideas? Happy to upload a video if anyone thinks that will help. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Sounds like the switch is a ‘break before make’ type. Are you pressing it slowly? How disruptive is it under typical usage (i.e., quick press)?

Did it come with the kit? If so, contact Aion to see if that’s normal for the switch provided with the kit.

Edit: Probably unrelated, but what type of solder are you using? Some of the joints look irregular. Additionally, the visible solder joints have been clipped very close to the board and through the joint—this can damage the connection and reduce the integrity of the joint.
