Seems interesting... I've got the Origin Effects Cali76 Compact Deluxe, but it'll be interesting to hear feedback on this one. Not that looks matter much, but damn, UAD clearly made this one affordable by skipping the product/graphic design team.

Edit: Perhaps I was harsh about the way it looks, I've just come to expect a certain level of DAMN with UAD's recent stomp box offerings.

I don't really get compressors. I should probably get someone who loves em to show me how they use theirs. Maybe I've just never tried a really good one. I always find I'd muck about for a bit, get a sound I like, play for a while then turn it off and think "wow that's much better" and then never mess with it again.

I recently experimented with running a thumbsucker into a general tso and I did not regret it one lil bit.

I am intrigued by this uafx 1176 …

The Cali76 is in a different league, and it’s reasonable to assume this UAD will be as well.

The Cali76 does the leveling thing very well and that’s how I tend to use it. The super squashed sounds are not for me. It sounds like it may be the same for you.

Listen to any Power Pop records. Great example is I Wanna Be With You by the Raspberries. Heavy compression is the key to the punch!
