I agree, but if I didn’t have a stash of pedal parts and had all tube amp parts like I did in the past, I likely would have done the same. As a bonus the heavier leads many of those have would give some stability.
But I do think most do it for show TBH

Normal caps would’ve made those 5 watt resistors look HUGE
