So here's what I'm swiping so far... I haven't looked through the little PCB baggies yet, can you imagine how this pile of stuff I need to be working on would look at me over here looking at some other PCBs?


Obviously the Stickman inductor... come on.

The sixpence, because Brian May and because I've been wanting to collect some form of physical currency from as many countries as possible.

And of course, the stickers and a pick, to add to my box of swag.

I try to always keep some of the swag from every pedal purchase, unless it's an integral part of the product (autographed pic, COA, etc).

Could we work a build challenge into it? (I want to recognize that this could get spendy very fast, so maybe put a lot of stipulations including price.)

Like, an A B kind of thing? "Build this for box A, or build this for box B?" sort of option choice decision trade-off thing.

Again, might get pricey, so maybe too far of a deviation. But maybe s his jumping off point for discussion?

The thing is, it already takes 7 months to complete just with people putting stuff in boxes and shipping. A build challenge would blow that up, I think.

But, keep the ideas coming.
 
Few ideas.

How about the closest PIF-erer to bean gets a microsynth board? 🤣
Maybe instead of first-come, first serve, we draw a name from within the box. This would require everyone to actually have their shit together though... But could add a cool element of surprise.

A group chat that only those who have been PIFt may join? Then we can share what we're adding, ask advice, make fun of stickman. Still "receive" in the main public thread.
I say this because the leave some take some approach probably discredited some really awesome additions to the box along the way. Not really a clout thing but there was some cool shit that nobody knew where it came from unless it had stickmen on it.

PIFmas in July: PIFmas II, the rePIFening
This is where you have to send the stuff that you took from the box 9-2 months ago that you'll never use to someone else.

PIF Madness
A double elimination PIF bracket. Some bullshit where 2 PIFs are sent to one person and the recipient chooses a winner, keeps the good PIF and mails their PIF and the looser PIF is judged, along with another looser PIF. And somehow it keeps going, the logistics I cannot fathom at this time, where the best PIFer gets like 8 PIFs or something. Semi finals get 4 and quarter finals also get 2. Early eliminations only receive one PIF.
We could probably display the loosing PIFs before mailing to avoid excess shipping.
Firm price cap though.
Some sort of winners and losers bracket. I don't know. Basketball but with corroded transistors and GORVA enclosures.

We should have a turnaround commitment for the next one, like within a week. There was some pretty lengthy lulls.

As far as spicing it up we could do some sort of Secret Santa deal.

White Elephant would be fun too but the shipping would get crazy. Virtual White Elephant where you don't send out until the end?
 
I like the lottery/random recipient approach.

And definitely agree with the shut together approach.

Maybe instead of having to build something, you have the A-B but more of a choose and no backsies, but they both have to be good lots—but definitely keep a price limit on stuff.

Or maybe they don't have to be both good, we could do a wheel of fish

Brb, I need to take a PiF

Apart from whatever bean had going, I think this time around, you see anything you PiF'ed last year, then you must build it (only 1, if there's not than that) and show a build report. Kinda hard to enforce, though…

However, I have been utterly unable to learn the identity of bean. The man is a ghost. I cannot find anything of his trough private PI(F)'s or web searches.

It's almost as if the man has no name. No face. No online avatar.

Thus, I'm left grasping at random identities I find perusing the dark web, hoping one day I will stumble upon his.
