Some of the fake meat stuff is pretty decent. I prefer the impossible stuff over the beyond stuff, generally speaking. The impossible chicken nuggets, cut into quarters and tossed in Buffalo sauce and put on top of some of that Panera Mac and cheese they sell at Costco makes for a great Buffalo Mac to pack as a lunch.

I’ve had some really good chili lime tempeh wings from a restaurant near where my sister lives too, but those weren’t really trying to be chicken or anything— it’s just tempeh on a wooden handle, seasoned well, crisped up, and coated with a really great sweet chili lime glaze.
Beyond and Impossible both have their strengths - the Beyond Sausage, both breakfast patties and brats/Italian, are wildly tasty. The Impossible meatballs are just plain bonkers. I'm waiting for a news story to break that it's actually been real beef this whole time.

My wife and I have joked that the reason that the Impossible Whopper is so realistic is because all they do is change the wrapper…

Meanwhile, my Dad won’t go near a BK now because he’s afraid they might mix his burger up with the “mystery meat” and he’ll get sick…as he waddles around, 2 years post-bypass operation…

If you’re a true vegetarian, you’ll know the night after you eat them. I was once given. Real burger when I ordered an impossible burger. It wasn’t pretty. 😁

Used to get fake lamb in HK, and quite liked it. Tasted nothing like lamb (or any other meat), but it had a VERY meaty texture and pan-fried with the right spices ... mmmmmmmm gooooood!

I was vegetarian for a wee bit more than a decade; no longer on that route, but my wife has since become vegetarian so I still eat a lot of vaguelytarian meals.

My sister was vegetarian, and an amazing cook — at a restaurant my dad always ordered steak no matter what amazing mains were on the menu, but he always looked forward to getting uncomfortably full on my sister's cooking.
IMHO, so many carni/omnivore that don't like vegetarian-fare, they're doing/ordering/getting the wrong dishes.

I used to get vegan mutton at a place around here that was really good and the texture was scary accurate. It was shiitake stems
