Unknown Caps? plus Builder journal.

These look like caps, but my GM328 tests them out as some kind of 0H inductor. What are they? I think they look like high Voltage caps for amp building.

thanks

P.S.
This is the very last of a NOS from a friend in ABQ who had an old guy pass away. Friend was kind enough to send me all his old stuff. Lots of Diodes and transistors, lots of electrolytics, and then just a few of these lil guys. I went so far as buying a GM328 to test parts. There was a jumbled nest of diodes (a big enough sample were all .7V i assumed they're all silicon but they're different colors). A few Mosfets, some Ge NPN, and loads of ICs. Woth the 328, testing transistors and passive parts was east. But I just spent a WEEK pulling data sheets for a almost a full 30drawer storage bin worth of MAXIM ICs. A few opamps, but mostly random stuff like comparators, battery chargers, and other random hard to understand stuff for like PCs.

Gonna build a Timmy with the one dual 741 (I forget the part number, 1438 or whatever), gotta look at parasit effects comparator fuzz, maybe a phaser with the one quad op amp.

Also like 2 dozen 555s for an APC. a few wave form generators and oscillators so maybe ill even get to breadboarding a synth.

A few weeks ago I just knew Bazz Fuss and LPB1. But looking at so many data sheets and measuring and sorting so many transistors was a whole electronics class unto itself!

And most importantly I learned that building isn't always the end. Sometimes breadboarding can be just as rewarding, and not every experiment needs to be made permanent in a stompbox.
