What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Drilled the hole maybe 1mm too high but could still barely fit the SPST into the enclosure. All the wires also caused some trouble, and the input/output jacks caused a lot more, but everything fit in and the relay switching works fine (although it turns on automatically on power-on, but that's a minor issue).

Also changed the (apparently) UTC TL074 to a TI TL074 (from LCSC) and there's a huge improvement in the sound. It still sounds like a very bassy pedal, but if you keep the bass control low it handles the Secret preamp fine now, and doesn't fart out anywhere near as badly as it did before.

I'm a bit scared of the other pedal since the in/out jacks are a tiny bit lower on the sides on that, but if necessary I can move those a little higher and the footswitch a little lower. Thankfully aluminum is pretty easy to carve with an old knife since I don't have a dremel.

Switched out some op amps and caps on my recently acquired Boss GE-7. It's crazy how much of a noise difference switching the three op amps from TL022 to NE5532 made. I also switched some of the caps to WIMAs (and 3 values to MKTs because Musikding didn't have the values for WIMAs) but I did not really hear a difference, it was more of a mojo thing. But sometimes mojo things are fun and it was only like 4€ more so 🤷‍♂️.

I am NOT spoiling my chainsaw file on a pedal enclosure 😤
I use the 2 that came in the set that don't match my chain...
But the bullet and bought a nice echo last year so hopefully I won't need another sized file for a while.
Edit, and they've held up pretty well. Al is a lot softer...

Trying to clean aluminum out of the teeth of a file is a huge bummer.
Is that an issue if I only use the file for enclosures? Like I literally don't know, do the teeth get gunked up and have to cleaned or is it fine in the long run? If yes, then the knife is probably easier. A basic knife like the one I use is like 6€ or whatever. And I've used the one I have for a dozen enclosures at least to make at least one hole larger, and for scraping the paint out of input/output holes for ~all of them. It still works fine, it was already dented to begin with.

Sometimes a file is the right tool for the job, and I just deal with the aftermath. Coarse files are a little easier to clean than very fine ones. For scraping paint, I’d definitely prefer your knife method.

This 414 mkii got a new counter belt, FF/RW reel belt, a little lube, and I removed what looked like rat shit from inside the case. I'll clean the pots and faders, wash the case and knobs, and reassemble. Audio worked on all 4 channels when I received it, and play worked. I'll test the record function and all the routing, then it'll go up for sale
