That is a beautiful guitar! How do you like the GR-09? I have a Brian Moore guitar that came with a synth pickup that I have never used. I have been kind of browsing old used Roland synth units on reverb just so I can try the synth pickup out.Still a few more bits left to black out, but the new Grover machine heads look much much better to me in any case and this guitar plays a lot nicer in general now:

I've even done the dive back into using my old GR-09 synth with it, which works better than I remembered.
I've had the GR-09 for...maybe 25 years? I used to gig with it a lot, and I had a VG-8 for a while as well. All great fun, but my favorite is using an old EMU rack sampler triggered by the GR-09 MIDI out. I haven't tried triggering stuff in my iPad yet, but I expect it to work pretty well. If you can score a Roland GI-10 or an old Axon controller, those were the preferred options back in the day. I'd been keeping my eye on Reverb listings too, but my GR seems to have self healed for the moment and just needs a new backup battery soldered in.That is a beautiful guitar! I've heard pretty good things about it in metal circles, I think it's the distortion side of the Grindstein (which also has a HM-2 derivative I think, so you can blend the HM-2 and more traditional OMG distortion).I fixed this Klirrton Oh My Goat last night that had a busted pot shaft. Hadn't heard of this pedal before. I wrote a full post about it here

I have been wanting a tiered pedalboard with storage like this for a while. I decided Friday to try to come up with a design and this is it. There are probably a few things I would like to change, like making the spaces a little taller so I could put pedals underneath as well, but I’m hoping it at least stops the complaints/comments about all the cables and boxes all over the floor.
Waiting on some more Velcro to come and then I need to figure out a power strip that fits well and I’m thinking of building some loop switching pedals for it.
I went way too deep in my ADAT but it's working now I guess. Somebody spilled cola in the shuttle buttons and the heads were dirty too.

It also eats tape at the end of fast rewind. I respooled this one and it works

Your professor should have embraced RADAR. Still sounds great.Back when I was in college studying audio engineering we were using ADATs. Our professor was obsessed with them, he swore they were way better than 24-track 2" tape and thought this new thing called "Pro Tools" was just a passing fad.
Remember the BRC? That thing was the best… except for the slight delay when punching in. Between that and the syncing lag, I definitely made some gnarly mistakes and lost some great takes with it.
2nd that. When I worked as a recording engineer, we had a RADAR unit that we would take to festivals for FOH multitrack. Always worked great.Your professor should have embraced RADAR. Still sounds great.![]()
