What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

When you have the maturity of a 12yr old, your mind always goes somewhere far away from electronics when someone says “motorboating”🤣😂

I’ll admit, I never thought to build multi-layer boards while they are still attached…but it makes so much sense! Must try sometime!

I did it with the 2 kliches I built the other day, just left em in the frame. Was way easier (no clamps in the way) so I figured what the hey!

Finally got around to sorting this guy out. Settled on the specs from the Percolation Station build doc, except I used 2SB54 and BC109c

Sounds great buffered and unbuffered, but there is a huge response change betwixt the two. Unbuffered is huge and wooly, buffered is clangy feedbacksville

Will work on getting a demo up today

If the Benders ain't fun, then you're probably missing a leaky transistor in the right place.

Yeah, they're definitely sensitive to transistor choice. All three of them sound good with the MP40s, just not inspiring I guess. Kinda like, "yep, that's a fuzz🤷🏻"
One issue I'm having is I've never played an original, so not sure what to expect. And, YouTube isn't terribly helpful, as the soundlcips are all over the place- some are thick and spongy, some are thinner and spitty, some sound mis-biased.

I've got some more GEs on the way, and I'm gonna whip up the RG transistor tester before I dink around with em anymore

The low gain / low leakage transistors are easy to find, regular Russian stuff. It's the leaky ones I have had issues with.
I found some new (?) AC187K at Reichelt here in Germany, thought I found a secret score but they were leaky as fudge. Couldn't do anything with them until I started using them in Tone Benders, then they loved it. 100+ hFE and .6+ mA leakage!
The circuit(s) are easy to convert to NPN if you have them, then you can skip the charge pump circuitry.
