What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Halloween came early
I figured it may be good enough for rock and roll.
Turns out my new Ferric is waaaay stinger than the old stuff

Went upstairs to grab some water in my rinse tub and apparently it got hot enough to melt the resist off.

It may be salvageable yet though.
Definitely going to have to presrill pilots. Almost lost those.

Boxed up and finished the offboard wiring for the Circulator! Haven't been able to dig in very deeply yet, so no comments so far. But at least it works right out the box.

I also finally modded the Drömtydning feedback footswitch. I was annoyed at how quickly it became deafeningly loud, so I added a trimmer in series with the momentary footswitch. I realize it's more of a second feedback setting now you can access momentarily, but I like it so far. You can set it to where it starts slowly oscillating instead of going straight to 100 instantly. Plus it's the simplest mod ever, definitely recommend. Not sure if the feedback value works differently or starts oscillating at different points depending on the other settings, so YMMV, but at least it's "secondary feedback setting" instead of "instant squeal".

Hbd to me

Looked like the more stable/sturdy cheap boards out there. Not the best, but I don't gig, and it didn't break the bank. Now to wire it up!
Nice! And HBD! I also picked up a cheap board this week after fighting with my crappy homemade one for too long. I got a Donner-something on eBay for like $50, including a decent case, some Velcro, and a couple cheesy looking patch cables. It’s not the best in the world but it’s better than what I had and makes my guitar area look way less cluttered. And I didn’t feel bad drilling a couple of holes for input and output jacks, heh.

Do you not get scratches without taping the whole enclosure? I got burned a couple times and then started taping the whole thing up.
You’re talking about scratches around the holes right? I think I remember you posting about that. I’ve never had that happen, but I’ve had some marking from the points where I’m gripping the enclosures, so I tape there.

As long as that step bit is sharp and spinning at the right speed it usually makes nice little chips that mostly just pile up, not long ones that whip around and want to scratch stuff. I do give each hole a little squirt of alcohol after I line the bit up. I think that helps keep the chips cool and helps avoid aluminum building up on the cutting edge of the drill.

For me the scratches usually happen when I dust the chips off, so they can end up anywhere. Maybe my bit gets too hot? I am using a hand drill at the moment.
