What is the 1N4001 for on the Protoboard?

Refer to picture.

I'm assuming the dual 10k resistors are for creating the Ref voltage for bias op amps, and the caps for cleaning that.

But the N4001 diode? There's already the 5817 for polarity protection, so why a second (higher V drop) diode?

The 1N4001 is a secondary diode to ground after the 1N5817.
