What strings (Brand) do you guys use?

I've used EB 10-52 and 10-46 for years after finding D'addarios didn't last very well at gigs for me. I've liked Boomers whenever I've used them and years ago loved Martin's Darco strings, before they moved manufacture.

So I was interested to see this:

I just watched this yesterday, while not really scientific, I found it interesting that he did continue to like the $3.50 strings from Harley Benton. So theres that.

Decided to put a recent gift card to fun use and try a few strings I’ve never played. And a backup set of fender 11s just incase.

I wanted to try out some flat wounds but holy crap $24 for a set is nuts. Maybe next time.

I forgot to say that my Strat has the vintage stagger so plain G strings are louder. Wound Gs have equal volume with this stagger but in general I find they intonate better and give a better transition to the plain strings. I don't bend much. I do miss how easy it is to do vibratos with skinny plain Gs.

I like Elixirs on acoustic because they chirp much less.

This is a weird one. Just got a new guitar (old one...a Yamaha Ty Tabor) but was originally set up with really nice EB coated 9's. I normally use GHS 11's but thought I'd throw on 10's. The guitar really seems to prefer 9's regardless of what I like. Might have to switch back and learn how to play on sewing thread.

Labella, Pyramid and D’adarrio for flats. I got a few Harley Benton flat guitar sets last order from thomman but haven’t tried them yet. Ernie balls for roundwound but I want to try Stringjoy

I decided to try some flats out on my 335. Also took the opportunity to adjust action height and try out a tip I heard where you put some pencil lead on the nut to lube it so the strings move correctly vs getting stuck and screwing up tuning, which was happening pretty drastically on my D and G strings before.

I have to say I am very pleased with the results. I’ve never played flats before. I love the way these sounds and my tuning stability has been rock solid, that pencil trick rules!

I might put back on some round wounds for the low E and A strings because so far I am feeling like those two are missing the spank that rounds have but the other four strings sound next level amazing and can’t imagine using anything else going forward. I did tweak the pole hight on the E and A and was able to get back a little more spank. I’ll give it a while before making any changes but thank you to all the Flat heads that recommended trying flats out.

These flats have “that sound” and are really fun to play they feel interestingly different and while they don’t bend as easy as I’m use to I don’t really have a need for huge bends anyway, I love the slide sound and feel.

Artisanal hipster strings made by hand in Nashville, custom gauges designed to make your rig the best-sounding one in your house...

For some reason I thought they were much cheaper than Ernie Balls, pushing them out of my brain now lol

And welcome to the flats cult @Dan0h. I usually tune down to at least C# standard and at that tension they're nearly as easy to bend as roundwounds in standard.
