What strings (Brand) do you guys use?

Rotosound for roundwounds. For flats…well, I’m playing the field. Currently, it’s Pyramid…
Do not try diamond silver coated strings for acoustic. I put some on my Gibson J185ec and thought I'd broken it - plink plink plink thunk thud went the strings. Took it to my luthier (along with a few other problem children) and he said "there's nothing wrong. Nut is fine, bridge is fine, neck is fine, but it sounds like you haven't changed strings in 20 years." I put on some Gibson 80/20's when I got home and it rang like a bell.....

On some electrics I like the EB Cobalts 10-52 heavy bottoms (last forever). Others just plain slinky 10's. I use Martin and Gibson phosphor bronze on my acoustics. Gibson on my Gibsons, and Martins on my D28e and a Fender acoustic I bought before they started churning out crap acoustics... It's sounds kind of like the D28, but brighter.

I have a RIC 620 reserved, when it does come I'll use Slinky 10's like I do on my *original* 1967 RIC 420 my Dad bought for me for my 11th birthday.

Mine is the original Red, George had his painted black.....

I typically use D'addario or Ernie Ball just because the make the cheapest baritone strings with the most availability. I have been digging Winspears lately, though

D'Addario Guitar Strings - NYXL Electric Guitar Strings - NYXL1046-3P - Unrivaled Strength, Tuning Stability, Enhanced Mid-Range - For 6 String Guitars - 10-46 Regular Light, 3-Pack

I played hybrid slinky the past 15 years and about a year ago started using the NYXL .... great quality strings... they are super durable because I play fairly hard with a pretty bad angle on my pick attack for rhythm.. I have yet to break a string during the "Safe Time" but if I wait to long I'll end up popping one... I'll have about 20 hours of safe play in before I change them out

whoa, Gibson isn't making 10's for acoustic anymore. Gaaa. So I started looking around and found a fairly new product, ALUMINUM Bronze strings. What the? From Ernie Ball, no less..... so I just ordered a couple pairs...... Funny, when I run my Martin through my Hiwatt amp, I get this kind of tone, but this is NON amplified.....

Fender Hendrix 10-38. If you haven’t tried them, I can recommend them at least once.

I’m a mids guy, I feel all the time and power comes from there, and they have a nice balance.

If it’s not those, then just standard EBs.

I've used EB 10-52 and 10-46 for years after finding D'addarios didn't last very well at gigs for me. I've liked Boomers whenever I've used them and years ago loved Martin's Darco strings, before they moved manufacture.

So I was interested to see this:

For electric I use 9’s d’addario NYXL
For acoustic nickel bronze 11’s. A few years ago I began to get crippling pain in my hands after long practices. So I had to hone my technique and play lighter. Using light strings made that easier.

I was skeptical about stringjoy because of their marketing blitz a couple years back, but I ended up getting a set of pure nickels and I loved them. Will get more of their strings in the future.

Otherwise it’s all D’addario for me.

I usually use throbaks. I get the pure nickel round core in 10's but they have a 9.5 option i might try out. They feel smooth and sound great for quite awhile. If you play hard the hex cores are probably better but I've never broken one of their strings.

John Pearse, nickel wound jazz lights, (pure Nickle wrap, hex core, 11s w/ wrapped 3rd. He also makes a very similar acoustic string that sounds great on mahogany bodied acoustics.

Pyramid Monel, (monel wraps over round core, polished), 10s, 11s, 12s—I really like these.
They last reasonably well, which is good, because they cost more than 2x the John Pearse.

On my Baritone, D’Addario 14 to 68, think it’s a steel wrap, possibly plated (but I don’t think Stainless, and I’m too lazy right now to get up and check. Or even just track it on the web.)

Ernie Ball 10-46 for electric, EB baritone for bari, Rotosound for bass.

Though I'll use anything decent if there's a deal on it.

I had never seen this presenter before—I was surprised at how good it was. More useable as a reference for the relative harmonic and attack qualities of each of the strings. I think each pickup type, and scale length, has a type of string that sounds best with it. I go through a few months trying different things, until one just feels right.

Thomastic flats on my acoustic, recently got hoodwinked into buying "flats" that turned out to be groundwounds. 😤

Whatever's cheap for electric guitar.

Evah Pirazzi solos bumped and La Bella Supernils on my basses.

Got some EB Cobalt flats to try on bass-geetar.

This was the spark that sent me into this string quest. Specifically I really liked how the Elixirs sounded and considered trying them out but thought I’d see what all you guys thought first.

Paul has some really awesome videos. Very good sharer of knowledge as well. Been following him since he was in his spare room in his apartment. Stoked to see his channel come so far.

Agree with this ^ - if you have the 'staggered' pickup poles. I found that these strings tame the strings that have the poles closest to the strings.
