What Was Your First Pedal/Effect?

Digging around my basement the other day and stumbled upon the first pedal I ever bought. It was a Zoom 505ii multi effect pedal and I decided to play with it for a while and was kind of impressed for how cheap and old it is. What was the first pedal you started out with?

Or maybe it was the RP1, with external expression pedal? I definitely remember having an expression to activate the wah effect, but don't remember if was built-in or external anymore.

I bought a 5-string bass a couple of years ago to get back into music. One of the first things I bought was a SansAmp GED-2112. Not exactly a pedal really...well...sort of. Quickly learned that trying to mix a two-channel pre-amp was no picnic. Turned it in for a YYZ instead.

Edit: Added a pic. It's right next to the intensely crappy Slam Punk pedal. The Super Chorus actually sounds pretty good. My wife bought it for me back in 1998 or so. The Slam Punk was a gift from a friend.

Probably 1999 or so. Sam Ash was having a sale, so
I convinced my parents to drive me there where I picked up a DS-1, an SD-1, and a DOD “Ice Box” Chorus for $40USD each.

I still have the DS-1, but it looks like this (for now).

Oh my this question takes me back, I bought it brand new with my summer work money in the 11th grade because I wanted all the FX but didn't want to mess with a bunch of boxes and batteries (lazy and cheap)....The digitech RP-1! It served me well for quite a while with only a crybaby to compliment it. Rocked it for about a decade. Shoulda kept it, my 93 strat plus and a sliver Getzen #1 trumpet. Hindsight being 20/20, I prolly wouldn't of done it the same.

Given to me by a friend because I was (shockingly) unsatisfied with the distortion channel on my solid state Princeton chorus. This did little to help the situation.

Nice! I'm assuming I arrived a couple years later, so my first was the PODxt.

I eventually got the floor-board which made it great to use live as a kid, but as soon as I had an amp that didn't sound like trash, I knew I'd have to upgrade the POD as well..

I think these multi-effects, no-matter-how-horrible-sounding, are great gateway drugs for learning musicians- they teach an example of what different effects are out there so that you know which sounds are important to YOU when it's time to upgrade.

Very first pedal was a First act 222 distortion that my parents got for like $5 when my local toys r us was closing around 2007. I only used it once or twice though before it went in a closet for years because the battery dies quick in it. A year or two later my aunt got me a line 6 spider IV 15w for Christmas.
When I was in middle school I got my first real pedal, which was either an EHX ravish sitar or a Dunlop Crybaby Classic. The ravish was a gift from my parents for Christmas bc I had wanted one for a while, and the Wah was something I bought for a school talent thing— they were like 2 weeks apart, and I can’t remember which was first.
