The butcher block is HEAVY and has silicon pads under to keep it still. That's half of it. The other half is how sharp the knife is.
I'm telling you, I have a Wustoff chef's knife I bought 20 years ago for $175. Finest German steel in the world. It is just as sharp, as the new knife I have, but the blade is slightly thicker and creates resistance slicing the bread.
This TEN DOLLAR FREE SHIPPING Japanese knife does the trick like crazy. I bought one at first, then another five for presents.... well balanced, and so sharp. Other Razab's seem to go for around $70, I cannot understand why these are so inexpensive......

B-day burnt ends and house made sausage. PDX isn't known for its BBQ but if you know where to go (Matt's BBQ) it really really doesn't suck. I'm the primary cook in my household so we tend to go out for my day. My daughter is sick so takeout is the way. NO COMPLAINTS HERE!

I need to step up my game! We've had this one for 12 years. IDK if it's my mixer or the attachment, but I had to dremel out a portion of the eccentric-to-concentric adapter bit because the pin that holds the orbital/eccentric gear/thing sticks out too far on one side.
