Anyone getting sick of my "Tele-scapades" yet?.... :ROFLMAO:

So this pretty much an unplanned purchase. When I was putting together my Candy Apple Red 60's style Tele I got pretty disgusted at one point with the out of spec neck pocket and was seriously considering scrapping that body and starting over. I was browsing Ebay and looking at the MJT (Mark Jenny) nitrocellulose finished bodies and this one caught my eye. (I've been wanting a Seafoam Green tele for many years to match the color of the hull of my flats skiff, which is Seafoam green). I wasn't really serious about buying it but I threw what I thought was a pretty low ball bid on it........and won the auction! I got this for a bit over $200. With tax and shipping it came out to ~$240.

Mark uses mostly USACG bodies and finishes them in nitro and does all the aging. I'm not a big fan of heavily relic'd bodies as most of them look ridiculously fake to me. But lightly aged really floats my "boat". (Ha see what I did there?:))

So I'm not really sure what to do with this body. I'm leaning towards re-building Red tele with this body. Although right now that Tele is playing perfectly, I still have a sour taste from the experience. And I'm not completely happy with my "aging" of the finish. It was a bit of an experiment to begin with to see if I could convincingly age a polyurethane body. I might wind up using that body with the extra neck I have to test pickups.

Oh, here's a picture of my boat the day I brought it home. (It's a bit dirtier than that now hahaha)

I picked this up at rondomusic. So weird, someone complained their site was down, I checked, saw this and checked it out. With shipping it was 189.35. 165.00 + 24.35!!! Like, I couldn't click on buy it now fast enough. To my surprise, it rivals my 1978 deluxe american swamp ash w/lollar pu's in tone, but is a good 3 pounds heavier. The whammy bar sucked. I had my luthier wave his magic wand and it works great now. He got all excited and pulled out an identical guitar he had bought last year, lol!!!

Man, Rondo is a shadow of its former self since COVID. They used to have SO MANY models. I had an Agile Les Paul that was superbly built. It was back when they were made in Korea at the Epiphone factory. I sold it a couple years ago. I've always regretted not grabbing one of their own models, it was a semi hollow that was a cross between a Ric and a Fender with P90's, can't remember the model name now.

Yeah I have a Agile 3010SE in Root beer with P90's I got back in 2014, love it. It's better finished than my *real* Gibson studio in black and gold. I admit, I was kinda disappointed when I saw how little Rondo had on their site.

I have G.A.S. big time. I'm over 25 now, gaaa. Since I'm retired, and have the 401k available it's hard NOT to buy what I want!

And I have a Ric 620 on the way, reserved with Sweetwater since 11-2022. Last month they said "real soon". Driving me crazy. I have a 1967 Ric 420 (yes, 420 as in the *special* holiday that just expired, lol) that I've had since it was new, and I'm chomping on the bit to take a picture of both of them next to each other on the wall !!!!

Always wanted to get one of their fretless baritone 12 strings. Absolutely unhinged idea lmao

Some long-awaited goodies from Dr @Robert. Landed here speedily but then took their time reaching our local PO.

Equilux, Hydra, Closed Circuit Booster, and a couple of ultra-nifty permanent breadboards.

Huzzah! and @fig's back! Double huzzah, the universe's balance is restored to (darn near) equilibrium.

And ... knock me down with a fig, Newton...my local stocks these...

So my relentless pursuit of the secrets of the Supreaux is enhanced by breadboarding yet another version.

How do you like them? I had never heard of them before but saw their booth at NAMM, cool people.
Well I haven't installed them yet but Tom "TV" Jones is THE filtertron guy. They specialize in Filtertrons and have a lot of different models. These are the "Classic" model which are designed to sound like vintage Gretsch pickups. These are going into my blue Tele.

Gretsch even uses them on their custom shop and signature models. I've played a few Gretsches with TV Jones pickups. Pretty awesome sounding. (But never before in a Tele, that's going to be interesting to see how it sounds!)
